‘Dune: Part Two’ demand crashes AMC’s website and app

Dune: Part Two seems like it is going to be a hit at the box office. Tickets for the film — which doesn’t drop until March 1 — went on sale Friday and seemed to crash the AMC website and cause problems elsewhere, as well.

Down Detector noted that users had indicated AMC’s website was having issues. Anecdotally, the app didn’t seem to be any better.

Users reported getting an error message when they tried to get tickets to the highly anticipated film. Lots of people posted complaints about the problem online.

There did seem to be a rise in issues with Fandango as well, though Down Detector showed it wasn’t nearly as severe. (In fact, it didn’t register as an outage.) And that could have something to do with the fact that the bug was disproportionately affecting AMC A-list members who were signed into their AMC accounts on the website and the app.

It didn’t seem like the problem had been fully resolved by about 3:30 p.m. ET Friday. Hopefully, fans will soon be able to get their tickets. Until then, they’re likely stuck refreshing and hoping.
