Hasan Minhaj cheekily grills Barack Obama about his year-end music lists

Two men sit opposite each other talking.

Plenty of us keep an eye on Barack Obama’s year-end book, movie, and music roundups, but does the former president actually listen to all that music?

In the interview above Hasan Minhaj is sceptical, so he asks Obama outright: “Do you really read all those books, watch all those shows and listen to all that music?”

“I am so glad that I had this opportunity!” responds Obama with mock outrage. “People, they believe the books and the movies, but the playlists, they somehow think — and this is mostly coming from young people like you — somehow y’all think you invented rock and roll, you invented hip hop, and so the fact that my lists are, you know, pretty incredible, people seem to think he must have had some 20-year-old intern who was figuring out, you know, this latest cut. No man! It’s on my iPad right now.”

Don’t ever doubt again that the former president listens to “Life Is Good” by SiR (feat. Scribz Riley).
