When you sprinkle in part feel-good sisterhood flick, part coming-of-age comedy, part martial arts movie, and part Bollywood musical, you get the beauty of Polite Society. The Focus Features film is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and one of Mashable’s top films of 2023 (so far).

Mashable culture reporter Meera Navlakha calls it a “charming, one-of-a-kind, even wacky film” with “energy at every turn, a combination of physical movement, laughs, and lighthearted suspense.”

Polite Society, which originally premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January and hit cinemas worldwide in April, is officially available to stream online as of June 16. Here’s what you need to know to watch from home.

What is Polite Society about?

Polite Society centers around stuntwoman-in-training Ria and her artist sister Lena. Ria believes she must save Lena from her impending marriage and enlists the help of her friends to pull off an ambitious wedding heist in the name of sisterhood. “What ensues is an irresistible series of events, underscored by family and sisterhood but punctuated with tons of action, extravagance, and laughs. The film is truly one-of-a-kind — an explosive watch,” says Mashable culture reporter Meera Navlakha.

Where can I watch Polite Society online?

Though Netflix, Max, and Hulu carry plenty of excellent action flicks and comedies, Polite Society will not be available to stream on those platforms — at least not any time soon. It will exclusively be available on Peacock starting June 16.

Are there any Peacock streaming deals?

Peacock is one of the few streaming services that regularly offers deals. Currently, you can score an entire year of the streamer for just $ 19.99 instead of $ 49.99, which is already discounted compared to paying monthly. There are also ways to get a subscription entirely for free if you have select Xfinity or Spectrum accounts (more on that below). Here are the best Peacock streaming deals currently available.

If you only want to watch Polite Society and be on your way, you can simply subscribe for a month for just $ 4.99 and cancel. If you want more bang for your buck, you can subscribe to Peacock Premium for an entire year for only $ 19.99 at the time of writing — that breaks down to just $ 1.67/month. Just key in the code N2TEWDZZ at checkout and the usual $ 49.99 cost will drop to $ 19.99. Of course, this price is only valid for your first year of the service, so it’ll jump back up to $ 49.99 when your year is up. Be sure to cancel before then if you want to avoid further charges.

Things are a bit confusing for Xfinity users these days, but here’s the gist: Peacock Premium has been included for free for some Xfinity subscribers for awhile, but as of June 26, that access is ending for many. For those with Xfinity gig-speed internet, you’ll still get two free years of Peacock Premium. For other customers, you’ll receive an offer for a year of Peacock Premium at just $ 2.99/month. Learn more about the transition and if you’re eligible for either deal here.

BEST FOR THOSE WHO HATE AD BREAKS: Peacock Premium Plus annual subscription

If money is no object for you, the Peacock Premium Plus plan lets you watch Polite Society and plenty other exclusives with zero ad breaks. It also gives you access to your local NBC channel live 24/7 and allows you to download content for offline viewing. Of course, it costs significantly more than the ad-supported plan at $ 99.99/year. However, paying for a year in advance does save you 17% compared to paying monthly fees.

Other ways to watch Polite Society at home

For those who are all tapped out on streaming services, but still want to see what all the fuss is about with Polite Society, you can purchase the action-comedy sisterhood tale from digital retailers like Amazon, Vudu, and Apple TV for $ 19.99 in up to 4K quality. Once you purchase a digital copy of the film, you can watch it whenever you want because you own it. The film will also be available to rent at most of these retailers at a later date.
