The original ‘Scott Pilgrim’ cast returns for Netflix’s anime adaptation

Epic showdowns, evil exes, and the sweet, sweet music of Sex Bob-Omb await in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Netflix’s anime adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comics.

The first look at the new series teases its comic-based visual style, as well as several iconic Scott Pilgrim moments, like Scott’s first meeting with dream girl Ramona Flowers. But dating Ramona is a dangerous business, as Scott soon learns. He’ll have to battle his way through her evil exes if he even stands a change with her, resulting in high-octane brawls against superpowered vegans, skateboarding action stars, and more.

While Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a new adaptation of O’Malley’s work, it still shares a deep connection to Edgar Wright’s original film adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Not only is Wright executive producing the series, but the entire movie cast is reprising their roles. That’s right: Michael Cera is back as Scott, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is back as Ramona, Jason Schwartzmann is back as Gideon Graves. The returning cast also includes Ellen Wong, Alison Pill, Johnny Simmons, Brie Larson, Chris Evans, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Brandon Routh, Aubrey Plaza, Mark Weber, Anna Kendrick, and Mae Whitman.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off hits Netflix Nov. 17.
